Ooznest Solid Carbide End Mills – Square End – 2 Flute Down Cut
Description

Different jobs require a different type of end mill. Choosing the correct endmill can effect the quality, speed, and accuracy of a job. Up cut end mills pull chips upwards, they are good to reduce machining time and if you need a good bottom finish. However if you need a nice top finish, then an up cut end mill will splinter or burr the top surface. This is where a down cut end mill comes in, it has a downward chip evacuation, this means you keep a clean top surface cut. However cutting speed is sacrificed. Down cut end mills would normally be used on grained woods, they will not splinter or tear out the top surface, and minimise the post processing work needed.
We have searched high and low for a quality supplier at affordable prices. Our square end mills are manufactured from solid carbide using the latest material technology. They are 2 flute down-cut square end mills, and range in sizes from 1/4” to 1/64”, so even them high detailed jobs are now possible.

The table below shows the sizes available in our down cut line of end mills. We stock the down cut versions in 1/4″ to 1/64″.
Stub | Standard | Extended Reach
Cut Diameter (D) | Shank Diameter (d) | Cut Length (L) | Bit Length (BL) | Cut Length (L) | Bit Length (BL) | Cut Length (L) | Bit Length (BL) | Reach (R) |
1/4″ (6.35mm) | 1/4″ (6.35mm) | 1/2″ (12.7mm) | 5/2″ (63.5mm)
1/8″ (3.175mm) | 1/8″ (3.175mm) | 0.375″ (9.525mm) | 3/2″ (38.1mm)
1/16″ (1.5875mm) | 1/8″ (3.175mm) | 0.188″ (4.7752mm) | 3/2″ (38.1mm) | 0.188″ (4.7752mm) | 2.0″ (50.8mm) | 0.590″ (14.986mm)
1/32″ (0.79375mm) | 1/8″ (3.175mm) | 0.094″ (2.3876mm) | 3/2″ (38.1mm) | 0.315″ (8.001mm)
1/64″ (0.396875mm) | 1/8″ (3.175mm) | 0.047″ (1.1938mm) | 3/2″ (38.10mm) | 0.12″ (3.048mm) |
See the diagram below to correlate the dimensions. The dimension Reach is only applicable to the extended reach end mills, as for the stub and standard end mills the reach is the same as the cut length. Also if the Cut Diameter and the Shank Diameter are the same then the Reach dimension also isn’t of much concern, even for the extended reach end mills.
